29er EuroCup 2009 has started in Dobrzyn nad Wisla

There was a beautiful, sunny weather, when the 29er EuroCup 2009 has started in Dobrzyn nad Wisla. Before the races, there was an Opening Ceremony where representative of authorities were participating including local politicians and Members of European Parliament.

Regatta are organised as match racing. Six races have taken place today. French and Dutch teams are actually on lead.

In Olympic class RS:X Regatta, Przemysław Miarczyński (SKŻ Sopot) is leading. Piotr Myszka (AZS AWF Gdańsk) takes second place. Łukasz Grodziski (SKŻ Sopot) is on third position.

In the evening all guests and competitors took part in shanties concert.

Gold for Radek

From 6th to 8th February in Gizycko on Niegocin Lake the 16th Poland Winter Windsurfing Championship took place. Competitors from Dobrzyn Sailing Club took part in this event after two years break. Fifty four starters, including two from Russia and one from Germany, participated in the competition. Eleven races were run in conducive conditions with strenght of wind oscillating from 1 to 3 dergee on Beufort Scale.
Our best sailing competitor was Radek Furmański, who won all races in juniors category and become outright the Champion of Poland. Paweł Kowalski had also very good result, taking 6th place in strongly manned juniors category. He was outplayed only by top competitors of RXS class, who additionally had much better gear. Fifth in this category was Michał Przybytek from AZS AWFiS Gdańsk, who had used to be trained in our Club. He took a part in Championship right after coming back from KNS training camp in Egypt, therefore his main problem were the difference of temperature. In younger juniors category Szymon Piekarski and Dawid Furmański, who took 8th and 9th place.
Considering the fact it was a first year of participation in Championship for our competitors, we must pronounce achieved performance a very good results. Our starters won 8 points in children and youth competition. Jarosław Miarczyński became the Champion of Poland in seniors category. Main competitors of the Championship starts in Winter Windsurfing World Championship in Riga, that begins on 17th February.

Mazovia Winter Windsurfing Championship

In Gizycko Mazovia Winter Windsurfing Championship took place. Team of three competitors from Dobrzyn Sailing Club participated in the event. Unfortunately, other persons from our Club were unable to take part in contest because of the flu. For two days 46 starters from Poland and Russia competed on Niegocin Lake. Nine races were run. Strenght of wind oscillated from 3 to 5 meters per second. For our windsurfers it was the first start in such multiple competition. Radek Furmanski took second place in UKS class, which turn out to be our best result. Pawel Kowalski became 10th in juniors category, sailing better and better form race to race. Szymon Piekarski, who competed in younger juniors class took 8th place. Achieved performance makes us optimistic about upcoming Poland Winter Windsurfing Championship. Points won during the Mazovia Championship are especially good result, considering the fact that for our young windsurfers it is the first season.

Nawojkas Cup

From 10th to 11th of January on Wloclawek lake a competition in ice board took place. Unfortunately competitors from Warsaw and Mragowo couldn't arrive because of very difficult road conditions, but dependable competitors from Szczecin were present. Lack of wind allowed ice bordes only for four races on Saturday. On Sunday wind conditions were much better - six races were played.
